An invitation to devotees wishing nirvana in the era of Maithri Buddha

The Methmuni Viharaya situated in Methmunigama, Ambepussa, Warakapola is a Holy Temple that is linking two Buddhist Eras. It is a rare religios development project situated in a calm environment on a pleasant hilltop. Presently this temple blessed by the Noble Triple Gem and the Maithri Bodhisatva presently renowned as God Natha is a place that has brought religious and psychological relief to many devotees of all creeds.

Presently the Methmuni Viharaya consists of a magnificient Statue of the Buddha, the worlds first Stupa with the Padmaa Malaka motif, an 18 foot statue of the Mathri Bodhisatva, a Bodhi Maluwa with a branch of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, a replica pf the Sri Pada, a 21 inch Gold Gilded statue of Mathri Bodhisatva. The devotees make religious observance at the temple and obtain relief for their samsaric as well as daily livelihood.

To carry on this religious work it is paramount that the Maha Sangha be living at the Temple in sufficient numbers. Presently such facilities are quite restricted. The temple is currently in need of a Sanghavasa, a Dhana Sala and a Dhatu Mandira with attached library facilities.

As the land available is limited at this Temple, it is imperative that a Three Storied Building be put up for the purpose. In keeping with this idea the ground floor will have rooms for the Maha Sangha a Dana Sala and open space for the devotees. The first floor will also have rooms specifically for the Sangha. The second floor will house the Dhatu Mandira and a Library. The necessary plans have been drawn up.

It is estimated that each floor will cost a minimum of Two million Rupees. In these times it is our idea to undertake this work in stages to ensure that our devotees are not unduly burdened.

In accordance with the Dhamma as preached by Gauthama Buddha, any person desirous of attaining Nirvana has to perform some meritorious deeds. Some of these are building Sangha Vasa, (Residential Monasteries) Dhana Sala (Alms Hall) and Toilet facilities for the Sasana. The occasion is now available to devotees to participate in this activity, by making financial or material support.

We are now making this request to all devotees to participate in this religious construction program by making your charitable contributions.

Please make your valued donations to the bank account of the "Methmuni Vihara Karya Sadhaka Society" maintained at Peoples' Bank Warakapola branch (A/C Number 054-1-001-0-4845577).
